Music is extremely important when it comes to character and
character development. That is why at AGS
Life Academy,
we recommend that at least once a month the student should go to
a music concert and if possible, a classical music
concert. Preferably the likes of Mozart, Lizst, Handel,
Vivaldi, Schubert, Chopin, Beethoven, Bach, Tchaikovsky,
Mendelssohn and others.
We
suggest before each Month's Module is completed, make it a point
to go to a concert. If the student cannot afford the
actual concert itself, go to the library and borrow a CD or DVD
of one of these artists and dress up at home (coat and tie for
men + nice diner dress for the ladies). Once a year for
the student using the borrowed concert from the library, they
really should try to go to a live concert and splurge a
bit. It really will be worth it.
Do
an internet search on the composer and all the other who, what,
why, when, how, where, etc. type questions.
For
the Credit Programs (Certificate Program and Diploma Program),
you will need to write a brief paper on this music appreciation
session. Please include not only the above who, what, why,
when, how, where, type questions, but also what did YOU get out
of the music, if anything? This thought-provoking question
should not be addressed until at least 3 days AFTER the concert.
From
time to time, look back over your notes and consider YOUR
attitude towards music, classical especially and music in
general. Has it changed and if so, how?
There
are several real treats and we know we would do an injustice
specifying any one. Once a year, look back and consider
which was YOUR favorite or which concert would YOU consider is
YOUR treat? And, why?
